March 12, 2008

The meeting was called to order by President Rebecca Humphrey on March 12th, 2008 at 12:17 PM.

First order of business, reading of the unapproved minutes.  Minutes approved as read.

New Business:

*The Fulton trip will be on April 8th, 2008.  This is a Tuesday afternoon beginning at 1 PM.  Rebecca discussed details of the tour.  A sign up sheet was passed around for those who are interested in going.  We will be leaving about 10am and probably be back around 6:30 or 7 PM.

*Those who wish to purchase honor cords must do so before the end of the month. The cords cost $10 and payments must be made in the financial aid office.

President Rebecca Humphrey motioned for the meeting to be adjourned with a second by Alicia.

February 18, 2008

Meeting was called to order by President Rebecca Humphrey at 12:19 PM

New Business:

*Rebecca is trying to get the trip to Fulton arranged.
*Rebecca passed around the sign up sheet for MPA. The date is Thursday May 1st.
*Emily has the sign up sheet for the honor cords for Psi Chi.
*There was a discussion about Habitat for Humanity and we will be trying to complete this task.
*Dr. Bohemier reminded everyone that if you are going to attend the trip on May 1st, reading day, that he needs to firstclear it with the Dean.

Meeting was called to order by President Rebecca Humphrey on January 24th, 2008 at 12:34 P.M.

New Business:

*Rebecca suggested habitat for humanity for community service. Rebecca will contact the Quincy habitat for humanity.

* The ideas of field trips were brought to the attention of the members. Dr. Bohemier had mentioned that the Fulton state institution would be a good trip. It's a far drive, but it is sure to be interested.

*Emily reported on the nursing home project. Katy motioned to adjourn the meeting with a second from Alyssa. Meeting adjourned at 12:43 PM.

November 15, 2007

Meeting was called to order at 12:01 PM by Dr. Bohémier on November 15th, 2007.
Reading of the unapproved minutes. Minutes were approved as corrected. Motion passed.

New Business:

*Dr. Bohémier discussed the food pantry idea.
*Dr. Bohémier discussed that he received information from admissions and they are interested in having psychology and pre-OT students hosting a telethon. This needs to be done by Dec. 1st. Dates for this will be Nov. 26th, 27th, and 28th. Those who are interested signed a sheet.
*Sarah went to Expressions and got a great deal from this store. She got print offs of all the styles of colors for the embroidery, styles of clothing, etc. We get the hoodies for $20, sweatpants, $18, and t-shirts $10. The final prices will be hoodies $25, sweatpants, $22, and t-shirts $15. Order forms were passed out.
*We need to allow at least 3 weeks for this to be done. We will begin advertising tomorrow. Details were discussed.
*There is a possibility of doing this project again for second semester for other various clubs on campus, not just Greek.
*Sign up times were discussed and members volunteered to sit at tables and start with sign ups for this project.
*Abby came up with some designs for our Psi Chi logo
*Rebecca discussed the adopt and elder project
*Rebecca contacted Carolyn Rhea and she will talk to Dr. Bohémier about these flyers.

November 08, 2007

President Rebecca Humphrey called the meeting to order at 12:05 PM.
Reading of the unapproved minutes. Minutes were approved as read with a
motion by Alicia and a second by Katie. Motion passed

New Business:

*Rebecca contacted the adopt-a-family organization.
*The age range we are looking at are ages 70 and up.
With a motion by Janae and a second by Alicia. The Motion  passed.
*Rebecca contacted the food pantry. We are unable to do it this month, and are possibly going to help with one next month.
*Sarah contacted the local t-shirt shop for information about the greek attire project. There were some complications with the prices. She will look in Quincy at a few of the
shops. She estimated hoodies will be sold at around $25 or $30. Sweatpants would be less expensive and tshirts even less than that.
*Fabric scraps are needed for this project.
*Alysa will contact the president of each sorority and fraternity house. Janae and Michelle will help with finding fabric scraps.
*There will be a brief meeting next thursday at noon in the psych lab to discuss this further.
*Dr. Bohemier suggested that Psi Chi pay for initiation for Dr. Jill Compton into our chapter. Alicia motioned with a second by Katie. Motion passed.
*This will happen possibly at the end of the semester, or beginning of next semester.
*Lori Flynn sent us a nice card congratulating us on our Psi Chi induction.
*We received a letter from Western Illinois University about a hotline. They are asking us to post up these flyers. We must get these approved.

Meeting was called to order by President Rebecca Humphrey at 12:03 PM

Treasurer, Report:  Current Balance: $409.95

New Business:

*Congratulations to the new inductees!!!!
*Thank you letters need to be sent to Dean Dieker and Tim Hercules, preferably written by the President.
*We need to come up with some type of logo for this chapter of Psi Chi.
*We are going to do community service, possibly adopting an elder.
*Alicia Mullen motioned to adopt and elder for community service with a second from Kasey A. Motion passed.
*Rebecca suggested giving baskets of food and supplies for those less fortunate, for Thanksgiving!
*Katy suggested to volunteer at the food pantry because they also give food and supplies to the less fortunate.
*Katy motioned to volunteer at the food pantry.  Alicia seconded it.  Motion passed
*Rebecca suggested Psi Chi t-shirts for fundraising ideas.  Sara suggested that we sell "Greek Attire."
*Rebecca motioned to start the project of "Greek Attire" with a second by Alicia.  Motioned passed.  All members volunteered to help.
*Details of this idea were discussed.  Alysa will be sending out a campus wide email after we find out the information of the costs of the clothing.
*There will be a meeting next week on Thursday the 8th at noon in the psych lab.

The first meeting of Psi Chi was called to order by Pro-tem President
Rebecca Humphreys at 12:05pm in the Psychology lab.
There was a welcome and a short description of Psi Chi by Dr. Bohemier.
First order of business was election of officers, Results as follows:

There were no objections nor discussions
Welcome new officers!


Second order of business was discussion of the initiation.
Practice will be at 6:30 on October 25th, 2007 for pre-initiation. 
Induction will be held immediately at 7:00
Dean Dieker will be the key speaker
New members will be initiated as and officers will be installed.
Small reception will follow the ceremony.

General announcements:
Treasurer's first duty will be to go and check the current balance of
Psi Chi
A sheet was passed around for everyone to write down days of the week
that will work for meeting times.
A reminder:  Think about community service projects.  Psi Chi MUST have
community service.
Ideas are: habitat for humanity, possibly providing a Thanksgiving meal
to someone who does not have the means to do so, possibly adopting a
family, etc.
Reminder: Clean out coffee pot, keep psychology lab clean, be sure to
conserve as much printing as possible, etc.
Alicia motioned to be adjourned with a second by Katie.

Post-meeting announcement: Meetings will be held at noon on Thursdays at

April 26, 2007

The Psi Chi meeting was called to order at 12:35pm on April 26, 2007.
The members present included: Lori Flynn, Rebecca Humphrey, April White,
Erika High, Kelsie Hinshaw, Kristina High, and Lindsay Sargent. The
faculty present included Dr. Bohémier.

Before the meeting, balloons were released between Henderson and Johnson
Hall for the National Victims Rights Day.

The first order of business included an announcement that Psi Chi and
Psychology Club bought Deanne Whiston a bouquet of flowers for secretary
day. Psi Chi then recognized Dr. Bohémier with a certificate of
appreciation and congratulated Kelsie for her acceptance into the
graduate school at the University of Iowa for School Counseling. There
was a reminder of the prison visit occurring on April 27.

This was the last meeting and Psi Chi had a very successful year!

April 17, 2007

The Psi Chi meeting was called to order at 12:05pm on April 17, 2007 in the psychology lab.  The members present included: Kristina High, Erika High, Lindsay Sargent, Abbey Eicken, Kelsie Hinshaw, JeTaime Austin, April White, and Rebecca Humphrey.  The faculty present included: Greg Bohémier and Chelona Edgerly.

Discussion of ILLOWA was the first order of business.  Three more moderators are needed to run the computers for the presentations.  They will be given instructions on how to run the computers.  The officers will be at registration.  Abbey will check on the coffee and Lori will pick up the snacks for presenters.  Officers will need to be ready by 7:30 Saturday morning.

Mugs were then presented to Dr. Edgerly and Dr. Bohémier.  The officers were also given certificates of appreciation.

The meeting was adjourned at 12:50pm.

The Psi Chi meeting was held on April 12, 2007 in the psychology lab.  The meeting involved:

1. ILLOWA folders are in.

2. Assigned members responsibilities for ILLOWA such as setting at the registration table, and members in the assigned rooms to help run the equipment.

3. Abigail is double checking with the physical plant to make sure the tables will be sat up in the parlor

The next meeting is set for April 17, 2007 at noon in the psychology lab.

The Psi Chi meeting was called to order on April 3, 2007 at 12:30pm in the psychology lab.  The members present were Abbey Eicken, Erika High, Kristina High, Lindsay Sargent, Lori Flynn, and Kelsie Hinshaw.

The first order of business was that everyone needs to look at candidates for Psi Chi.  ILLOWA updates include having the okay to order everything and everything is ready except for the notepads.


The last announcements included the certificates of appreciation for the officers being in and mugs being ordered for Dr. Bohémier and Dr. Edgerly.  Honor Cords were passed out and signed for.  Lori reminded everyone of the prison visit on April 27th.

March 13, 2007

The Psi Chi meeting was called to order at 12:00 pm in the psychology lab.  The members present were: Lori Flynn, Rebecca Humphrey, Lindsay Sargent, Kristina High, Erika High, April White, Je'Taime Austin, and Kelsie Hinshaw.

Business involved expanding the invitation to the prison to Psychology Majors, Psychology Club, and CJ Club.

Rebecca was asked to update the Treasurer 's book.

An announcement was made that the Psi Chi magazines are in and not only are we the first Psi Chi group at Culver to wear honor cords at graduation, we are the first class to have a picture and be mentioned in the chapter activities section of Eye on Psi Chi.

A second announcement involved the honor cords and officer ribbons being in.  Finalizing things for ILLOWA included Landmarx having key chains and the finalized design being set soon.  Everything for ILLOWA has to be ordered this week.

Final announcements included: prices April received for t-shirts (checks payable to C-SC and $8 for xs-xl), which everyone decided on a design for and the money for them and sign up for the prison visit are due by March 19.

The next meeting will be March 27.

February 22, 2007

The Psi Chi meeting took place at noon in the psychology lab on February 22, 2007. Members present included: Lori Flynn, Kristina High, Erika High, Lindsay Sargent, Rebecca Humphrey, Abbey Eicken, April White, and Kelsie Hinshaw. Faculty present included Chelona Edgerly and Greg Bohémier.

Topics of discussion included the prison visit that will take place on April 27th from 9am to 12pm.  The forms to attend need to be returned to Lori as soon as possible with the latest being March 16th. Lori also informed everyone that a probation/parole officer will be with everyone.

A second topic of business included a letter to the faculty that went out Sunday for ILLOWA, Nicole Mohr said that the ILLOWA web page will be up this week, and the keynote speaker is still pondering the title of the speech. Lindsay, Kristina, and Erika have taken care of getting folders, pens, notepads, and key chains.

The last announcement included April needing ideas for the t-shirt and everyone needs to let April know what their t-shirt size is. She needs the money before they're ordered.

At the close of the meeting, Lori was presented with the Psi Chi national service award by the officers.

January 23, 2007

The Psi Chi meeting was called to order by President Lori Flynn on January 23rd, 2007 at 12:00 pm in the psychology lab.

Members present included Lori Flynn, Rebecca Humphrey, Abbey Eicken, Erika High, Kristina High, Lindsay Sargent, April White, and Kelsie Hinshaw.  Faculty present included Gregory Bohémier and Chelona Edgerly.

Announcements included the Community Hope Center being grateful for the help with providing canned food and Pearl Sapp enjoying her new clothes, slippers, earrings, etc.  Major from D.O.C. Probation and Parole confirmed April 27th, Friday, as the set date to take the tour of the prison as well as setting in on a meeting with the offenders.  Everyone needs to sign up, get a copy of their specific guidelines, and provide information that D.O.C. has requested from each person who will be attending.  Dr. Bohémier is hosting a picnic on April 29th at his house at 1pm.  Also, keep in mind that Pillars is February 3rd and two people are needed for three hours.

Discussion of ILLOWA included items to be put in the folders such as; pencil, paper, an agenda, and ID key rings for their special gift.  Abbey reported that all rooms are reserved from 11-2 for the parlor areas and she will check on chairs and table clothes.  She also reported that rooms are reserved in the Science Center, but two LCDs are still needed.  Lori made sure maintenance will make everything very clean and Kate will talk to the cafeteria about food again.

Brain Awareness Week will be coming up and any volunteers to talk at different schools would be great.  The list of schools will come from admissions.  Admissions would also like psychology students to call prospective students sometime soon.  The date of Monday, February 5th, from 7-8 pm has been approved by the admissions department to do the telephone calling of prospect students.

Psi Chi and Psychology club decided to join forces again to hold a Habitat for Humanity fundraiser from February 5 to February 9 during lunch and dinner outside the cafeteria, at the end of which Rebecca or a replacement will pick up the money.  The sign up will be outside the psychology office on the bulletin board along with a sign up for Psi Chi students that want honor cords, which are $12 and payable to Dr. Bohémier or Lori Flynn by January 31st.

The next meeting is scheduled for February 1st at noon in the CP.  The meeting was adjourned at 12:45 pm.

The Psi Chi meeting was called to order by President Lori Flynn on December 6th, 2006 at 12:05 pm in the psychology lab.

Members present included: Lori Flynn, Rebecca Humphrey, Abbey Eicken, Sara Bainbridge, Erika High, Kristina High, Lindsay Sargent, and Kelsie Hinshaw.  Faculty present included: Gregory Bohémier and Chelona Edgerly.

Lori complimented everyone on a job well done with the Global Aids Fund and reported that we have permission to wear cords at graduation, but still need it stamped by division chairs.

The first order of business included an update of the reservations for ILLOWA.  Abbey reserved the parlor, Rebecca reserved the classrooms and reported that only two more projectors are needed, Erica, Kristina, and Lindsay are working on the packets, Sara reserved the auditorium, and Lori made sure maintenance would clean the science building.

The second order of business included helping Pearl Sapp.  Items need to be purchased and delivered.  Anyone who can donate needs to drop items off by December 13th, so they can be delivered on December 14th.  We can also consider taking her out to dinner.

We also need to think about Habitat for Humanity next term, inviting high school students to ILLOWA (which Sara will contact admissions about setting up), putting something new together for the C-SC fact sheet, and taking a prison tour in the later part of April.  We will also be having a food drive and collecting nonperishable and hygiene products for the Hope Center out of Bowling Green Missouri.

November 15, 2006

The meeting was called to order on November 15th at 12 pm.  The following members were present: Kate DiGrino, April White, Abbey Eicken, Sara Bainbridge, Kristina High, Erika High, Rebecca Humphrey, Lori Flynn, and Kelsie Hinshaw.  The faculty present were Greg Bohémier and Chelona Edgerly.

The first order of business was the need for a committee for ILLOWA which is on April 21st all day long.  We need to reserve the big room for the speaker and little rooms in the Science Center.  There was discussion as to having the speaker be between the morning and afternoon presentations.

A list of what we need for ILLOWA included seven rooms for presentations which need LCD projectors and overheads, accommodations (parlor and cafeteria), getting in touch with Public Relations for promoting and signs.  Rebecca is in charge of the science building, Sara has the auditorium, Abbey has the parlor in Johnson, Kate has the food (cafeteria for lunch and food at registration), Kristina, Erika, and Lindsay have the packets for everyone at ILLOWA, and Lori is taking care of janitorial use at the buildings.

As a last note, Psi Chi shirts need to be ordered, but we need everyone's size.

November 1, 2006

The meeting was called to order by the Vice President April White on November 1st, 2006.  Members present were; Sara Bainbridge, Kevin Dunbar, Lindsay Sargent, Kristina High, Erika High, Abigail Eicken, Rebecca Humphrey, April White, Lori Flynn, and Kelsie Hinshaw.  Faculty present were Greg Bohémier and Chelona Edgerly.

The first order of business was a fundraiser to help aids awareness.  Psi Chi and Psych club will be combining efforts and using cans to collect money for the cause.  Transitional Teddy's may also be a fundraiser for the future.  It involves giving a teddy bear to children in abusive environments.

Behavior Week is March 2007 which is a time that we could give a talk to kids at the local high school. 

 ILLOWA is on it's way, which Psi Chi is in charge of, so we need to be thinking about it.  We may be getting ribbons and banners for it.

Chapter member surveys are in the Psychology mailbox, so please fill it out and put it back as soon as possible.

 Everyone would like to wear cords for Psi Chi at graduation, which needs to be brought to the Dean's attention.

 Anyone who wants shirts should let April know and should tell her what you want said in the letter about cords for graduation.

 The next meeting is scheduled for November 15th at noon in the psychology lab.  The meeting was adjourned.

Members Present:  Beth Zeidler, Emily Spurgeon, Amanda Holmes, Sapphira Booth, Kara Buckner, Betsy Terwelp, Mindy Gallamore, and Carmen Mueller

The meeting was called to order by President Beth Zeidler and introductions were made. The first order of business was electing a new secretary and treasurer. Nominations were presented and votes were cast. The new officers are (1) Secretary: Kara Buckner (2) Treasurer: Carmen Mueller.

Emily Spurgeon gave the treasurer’s report. There is  $313.28  in the Psi Chi account.

New Business: Ways to spend and take in more money were discussed. Some of the ideas included: A Chicago MPA trip fundraiser,  T-shirts, 50/50 drawing, and a bake sale.

The next meeting is scheduled for the 27th of January, 2004.

Members present: Beth Zeidler, Lisa Norton, Sapphira Booth, Emily Spurgeon, Amanda Holmes, Carmen Mueller, and Dr. Bohémier.

The meeting was called to order by President Beth Zeidler and introductions were made.  Sapphira Booth was the only nomination for the office. A vote was called which passed in favor unanimously.

The next order of business was electing a secretary. Sapphira Booth nominated Amanda Holmes for the office. No other nominations were made and the vote passed in favor unanimously. The offices of Psi Chi are as follows: Beth Zeidler- President, Sapphira Booth- Vice President, Emily Spurgeon- Treasurer, and Amanda Holmes- Secretary.

Emily Spurgeon gave the treasurer’s report. There is $237.33 in the Psi Chi account. Dues are $5.00 per member and should be paid to the treasurer before the end of the month. Emily is to deposit the dues in the account with the business office.

Fundraising ideas were discussed as well as activities for the chapter to do. Dr. Bohémier would like all members to bring ideas for upcoming events and fundraisers to the next meeting.

Induction into Psi Chi was also discussed. It may be possible to move induction to fall semester instead of in the spring. This will be beneficial to the chapter in increasing membership. A list from the registrar will be needed to see which students are eligible. If induction is in the fall, it will hopefully be complete by November.

Dr. Bohémier encouraged everyone to visit our website. He also encouraged members to think about submitting a poster or paper for the national convention.

The next meeting will be the 7th of October, but check your email for any changes in date and times. The meeting was adjourned.

January 27, 1999

We met at 12:30 today 1-27-99.  We had 8 people in attendance: Heather Ragsdale, Pam Thomas, Shelly Morff, Tenille Sonethongkham, Jamie Clark, Jodie DeJong, Lauren Pendarvis, and Jennifer Wood.

We held elections today too:  President--Lauren Pendarvis, V.P.--Jamie Clark, and Secretary--Jennifer Wood.

Induction: We voted on the induction time: February 25, 1999 in Merilat Chapel at 6 p.m.  Officers will meet at 5:30.

Lauren Pendarvis volunteered to send invitations to the Deans and to the President.  She also volunteered to e-mail faculty and inform them of initiation.

Heather Ragsdale will take care of parent invitations, at the request of the new initiates, pin order forms, registration forms and fee to the national office, and the registration cards. Pam Thomas volunteered to donate punch and the punch bowl.

Shelly Morff volunteered to purchase the cake, forks, cups, plates, and napkins with the Psi Chi funds.

The meeting adjourned at 1:00 p.m.


October 21, 1998

 

We held our meeting today at 12:30. The following people were present: Heather Ragsdale, Pam Thomas, Brent Goings, Lauren Pendarvis, Tenille Sonethongkham, and Jodi Dejong.

Our Bake Sale was a success. We sold everything and made approximately 30 dollars. We extend a thank you to all of the volunteers and workers at the sale.

The next bake sale is Friday, October 30, 1998 from 11-1 only at the desk outside of Meader's. Shelly, Heather, and possibly Jodi will work the desk. It will consist of items that are for the Halloween occasion.

Heather is working on the shirts. Please see her on Wednesday or Thursday to see the sample shirt she has in her room.

We will meet sometime in November to discuss a field trip to St. Louis Science Center.

October 7, 1998

We held our bi-monthly meeting at 12:30 on Wednesday, October 7th.

Those in attendance were Heather Ragsdale, Pam Thomas, Shelly Morff, Lauren Pendarvis, Jamie Clark, Jodi DeJong and Cassie Kinnamon. Those who have not paid dues are Brent Goings and Tenille Sonethongkham.

Heather volunteered to get a sample t-shirt and the price for the emblem to be put on the front. We decided to have navy blue shirts with gold emblem with Psi-Chi on the top and Culver-Stockton College on the bottom.

The important topic of discussion was the bake sale. Our first is on Thursday and Friday, Oct. 15 and 16 from 11-1 on each day. We will be at the desk just outside of Meader's Lounge. If this is a success, then we may have another later in the month.

The following have volunteered these foods:

rice crispy treats - Heather and Shelly
brownies - Jamie and Pam
cookies - Pam
covered pretzels - Jodi
puppy chow - Lauren

(other treats will be added at a later time)

Pam will make the signs and bring a can for change for the bake sale.

November 12 is the date for chapel at 12:20. We have all the volunteers for the prayers and readings, Pam, Shelly and Brent. Our speaker will be Dr. Wilson.

The meeting adjourned at 12:50. The next meeting is at October 21st at 12:30.


September 23, 1998

 

We decided to have our trip to St. Louis at the science center on November 14, 1998, tentatively scheduled for that date.

Second, we are doing the chapel service on November 12th, we have yet to choose a speaker.

Third, our fund-raiser is going to be a bake sale, tentatively scheduled for Thursday and Friday
October 15 and 16, from 11-1. We would appreciate any volunteers to take a shift.

Finally, our t-shirts are going to be navy blue with gold writing - very simple and elegant. Details will be discussed at the next meeting. Jodi is going to bring ideas.

A reminder - DUES ARE DUE in September. The next meeting is in Meader's at 12:30 on October 7th. We are going to try to have the meetings every 2 weeks. Thanks and keep in touch.


September 9, 1998

 

Meeting began at 12:30.  Those present were Heather Ragsdale, Brent Goings, Pam Thomas, Jodi DeJung, Cassie Kinnamon, and Shelly Morff.  This was a good turnout, since we only have 10 members left after last year's graduation.

We discussed getting t-shirts for the members. Ideas are to be brought to the next meeting.

We decided to do the chapel service on October 29 or on November 12.

Possible trips were discussed for this semester.  Two ideas are (1) The Psychonomics Society Convention Convention in Dallas, TX, and (2) The Science Center in St. Louis. 

Other important issues discussed were possible fundraisers and we could do this with Psychology Club. Each member was asked to come back with at least one idea.

The meeting was adjourned at 1:00.

The next meeting is set for September 23 at same time and place.
