A Question of Balance Welcome!
Hello! My name is Greg. I've spent most of my life enjoying learning. Professionally, I'm a professor and an experimental cognitive psychologist specializing in the Psychology of Reading. I'm also interested in investigating processes relating to olfactory memory and the effect of asynchronous music on cognitive and physical performance. My primary hobby, which goes back to before Sputnik went up, is astronomy. I particularly enjoy the observation of planetaries, globular clusters, and galaxy clusters. Lately, I've begun exploring the use of CCD cameras and webcams in photographic astronomy and the results are very promising. I consider myself to be an eclectic hobbyist. On any given day, you may find me with my microscope (interested in palynology), collecting fossils and rocks, sitting back and watching nature, reading, constructing and tinkering with mysterious objects, listening to French avant-garde or progressive rock music, bicycle touring (century trips), gardening, remodeling the house, or just doing absolutely nothing at all! Well, perhaps watching a vintage Sci-Fi movie on my computer. Additionally, I also champion the American Indian Movement, the cause of saving the Earth's biosphere such as instituting measures to control global warming, and I advocate equal and equitable rights for all people worldwide. I believe in a global community in which countries work together by mutual agreement. I feel strongly that any one country does not have the moral right to bully and and control the destiny of the world. I'm divorced and I have four beautiful daughters and one grandchild. I always try to remember the "best of times" and continue to look forward to positive life-experiences. Finally, though I'm a New Englander, I've been living in a small rural town the heart of the Midwest for years. Besides relatives and friends, what I miss the most is ethnic and cultural diversity. Consequently, I often go on what I call a city-fix. A trip to Chicago, which is about four hours away by train. More information can be found about me by clicking on the links above. Easter eggs and hidden links are embedded throughout the site. So have fun and feel free to explore. Click Here to send me an email.
