SIFE/PBL Educational ProjectsCIS Senior Engineering Project One of the most exciting projects we are currently working on is our partnership with the CIS Department & ACM in developing an inventory management system. This system will help us in developing more accurate financial reporting as well as help us better manage our rapid increases in inventory.
Several members of C-SC's business department accounting group, the student chapter Institute of Management Accountants have aided us in developing financial reports. By allowing these students to apply the knowledge of their field to a real business they will gain a better understanding of their classroom study. CustomPride would greatly benefit from such a partnership because sound accounting practices leads to a better understanding of what products sell the best, who our preferred customers are, and core information such as return on investment, balance sheet reporting, and P&L Control.
The CIS students will also continue to benefit from working on this project for the next 5 - 7 years. We expect that each semester we will review the progress of the project. During the semester reviews, CustomPride and CIS students will investigate the strengths and weaknesses of the project as well as develop goals for the upcoming semester. Each semester CIS students will consult with CustomPride and attempt to improve the current system in place. For example, within the next year our goal is to implement a barcode tracking system for our inventory. Senior
Engineering Project Presentation
CustomPride understands the importance of encouraging the educational spirit. As a result, CustomPride is currently formulating a plan to assist other schools in developing an eBay company based on the CustomPride model. In cooperation with Culver-Stockton, our suppliers, and other partners we could mentor other schools and aid them in starting a business based on our working model. Not only will we provide them with the information needed to start a business we will also show them. For example, we will actually take them on buying trips to purchase inventory, walk them through the actual listing, and teach them with the tricks of the trade that we have learned in our five years of operation. Upon completion of the model the educational institution will have a completely implemented eBay company. We expect to analyze the progress of each company through a yearly or quarterly report. If any problem should arise with the model we will be available for consultation. We are interested in making this an international endeavor as well. With the right support we could teach schools in countries such as China, Mexico, and Canada. On campus and in the local community we would like to encourage eBay workshops. For the college, we would like to see an e-commerce course offered based on our business model.
